thanks Dave, I have had it to Ricks 4x4 for seperate issue that has been fixed now but he did replace the MAF then checked the readings and they were no different. What does BD mean???

dont worry I have figured it out, Maybe I will need to send it back down for a check. When I bought it this was already done, so not sure what it was like before.

Disco TD5 fuel usage and possible power problems

It won't be a "bad load" unless you mean they have loaded the wrong firmware. Firmware uploads are normally verified by comparing the firmware binary file with the contents of the chip that was been flashed. If even a single bit of information differs the verify fails.

If the flash memory is faulty the ecu code will be corrupted and you'll experience faults or outright failure of the ecu to operate.

It's at the pig might fly end of the uncommon to rare spectrum that you'd have a fault in the ecu programming that degraded fuel consumption without crashing the ecu.

    Cheers
    Paul

Thankyou Paul, I am going to replace the fuel block and see what happens. I would have thought if it was burning the fuel there would be more soot but there isn't.

A bad load (in this case) doesnt just mean the uploaded software is not in correctly.

that particular vehicle may have had a problem that's been countered by software, uploading the new map may have gotten rid of that special update.

they may have simply uploaded the deefer fueling set into an auto D2 hell they might have uploaded the wrong map entirely The auto may now be in its software limp mode because it cant talk to the Engine ECU The Auto wont be throwing the warnings because it thinks the fault is in the Engine ECU and the Engine ECU isnt throwing a fault because it cant talk to the auto because it no longer knows its supposed to be talking to an auto.

theres a few other things it might be but most of those will show up if you plug a nanocom or similar in and read the engine ECU fault codes.

Not being sure if its an early model, if its an early model they may have just put a piggy back chip in or lies box into the system and thats got a dodgy connection.

If you end up buying a Nanocom directly from Blackbox Solutions Ltd - Designers and manufacturers of the best vehicle diagnostic tools. I'd STRONGLY suggest you do NOT ship with DHL, they rip you off for "customs/quarantine inspections charges" $65 for me, not going to pay it either.

You can load what ever map you like on the ECU but the Auto ECU expects to see data from the Engine ECU regardless.

The Auto ECU will go into full limp mode when there is no communication with the engine ECU. You get m&s on the dash and auto will lock in third.
