    Broken wire

I have just found a broken wire , originating from a sensor under the turbo near the oil filter that then runs around the back of the engine to the drivers side. Just wondering what the sensor is for and how much of a pain it will be to fix. Atm it seems to have no affect and it seems to be cut cleanly through. the broken end must be from the loom end as it is still connected to the sensor. it is a black wire and the still attached is white , if that makes any difference.
    Thanks

Looks like the oil pressure switch! The black would be the earth which would render the switch inoperative. You may have no oil warning light on the dash. Not a good idea!
Does it self test when you turn on the ignition?

AHA! Theres your answer, Cleaning!!! the oil leaks attract dirt, which set like cement around items, eg said wire, preventing it from falling off when it breaks!! Solid engineering there!! And yes it will be the oil sensor wire.

    Corect, oil pressure.
It earths through the sender unit not the black wire.
Infact the black wire does nothing and is cut and left in the conduit over the gearbox from factory.
