Mine does the same, but I was under the impression its normal (doesn't happen with the commodore though)
Hi There
I have been noticing for a while now that my Disco 2 TD5 has been slipping in gear when it is cold. I start it up, put it in gear and hit the go pedal but it revs and moves slowly. After about 30 seconds, its warmed up and runs just fine but it is annoying
Any ideas???
Best regards,
Shannon

Not Normal. Have you checked the fluid level?
One similar issue that I've seen was failing to rev for 10-20 seconds then suddenly picking up = failed MAF sensor.
Thanks Gary - my MAF sensor is stuffed. I'm driving with it disconnected until I get a new one (later this week I hope), and I checked hte fluid on the weekend - no problems.
Since I don't really know how long the MAfs been stuffed for, hopefully when I get the new one it'll all be fine.
Cheers,
Alex
I had the transmission serviced about 15000K ago - so it might be low, I'll check that tonight.
I put in a new MAF about 500 k's ago. I'm not getting any errors on the ecu either.
I have had a similar issue just starting to appear when cold in reverse, like first thing in the morning. The fluid level is fine - double checked that - and filter changed about 15,000km ago. I can only assume oil draining out of system and it takes 5-10 secs to raise pump pressure... Wear and tear I suppose. I am about to repeat the filter and oil change process again.
New MAF & mine's sorted

The issue here is the slipping transmission if I understand the original post correctly. The engine is revving, but not transferring this to to the wheels? How can the MAF solve this issue, though I can understand how it could if the engine were NOT revving when pressing accelerator...
