    Philip , not sure what you are on about? The Bearmach OEM part $340Aus plus shipping by my calculation. That is not a world away from the $299 price tag on the JEEP item you linked to. The US sellers who actually list D2 hubs on eBay are asking $400-500.

    I was actually referring to the UK aftermarket sellers being closely priced for the same quality level components.

    Not sure if this helps at all with what's being said here...but 2 years and about 35000km ago I replaced my front right hub with a 2nd hand one from BOR at half the price . No idea how many kms on it but it was original ..cheap..got me on the road..may outlast the other 3 and has been fine..old car..old part.???

    The Jeep item was for 2 for $299 = 1 for $150 .

    I guess my point is that we are being robbed by the aftermarket sellers, and as long as we think $400 is reasonable they will keep doing it.

    I just hope some enterprising person approaches a manufacturer for a run big enough to get a better price. ( before I need one LOL)

    Sorry I did notice that but didn't factor when I was comparing.

    You might like to check that sellers pricing on disco 3 hubs and compare with the UK pricing. It's too easy to say the hubs all look to same but if that were true why does the seller you linked to have timken hubs that range from $150 to more than $600. They all look similar.


    Add:

    The ebay seller Philip linked to sells Timken LR3/Disco3 hubs for $399US per pair plus shipping( http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TIMKEN-HA...#ht_2460wt_978 )

    Rimmer Bros in the UK sell LR branded Disco 3 hubs for £152 each ex vat and OEM at £125 each ex-vat. This translates $463US per pair for genuine and $380US for OEM.

    I replaced my front passenger side hub with a Britpart one. 30,000km and no problems at all. Having a ABS sensor issue, but tests say that the wire from the sensor connection to the SLABS is faulty and needs replacing.

    A friend of mine replaced front right hub to britpart, on his D2a td5. ABS sensor was ok, so he did'nt replace it. By now he went about 10k on new hub, and all is well.
    But i can say that britpart isnt equal to oem, it looks nice and quality, but... time will show.
    As for the ABS sensor that goes with hub - it did'nt impress. I installed it on my hub and it jumped from its fixture (bracket that attaches sensor to the hub), but at least it works.

    Just received a BritPart OEM front hub. The bearings don't have Timken stamping, but the machining and castings look to be very well finished. The abs sensor is a wabco branded part, so definitely OEM quality in that respect.

    There is a big price difference between the Britcar pattern and OEM grade parts, and if the abs sensor isn't wabco the hub isn't going to be OEM grade.

    I have just had one of my rear wheel hubs replaced.

    I was looking around and found Timken seem to be the OEM maker. I have found there are 4 Timken factories in China.

    Also found there are Chinese made hubs available as well so they ALL might be made in China. OEM and copies...

    It's interesting talking about china made stuff etc, when you buy Timken or other name brand you're paying for their quality systems, production expertise, and developed product knowledge. Where those things are used doesn't really matter. Provided it's Timkens QA. BMW and Toyota are making fine cars in asia, because they successful transported their manufacturing & QA systems there. Aalborg a European boiler manufacturer has a big boiler making plant in china. The service engineer informed me they make a better boilers there than they do in Europe. I'd be happy to buy the hubs as long as they had a known brand name backing them up. Ball bearings for the hubs are not high tech.. I'm not sure it's a step in the right direction having non serviceable hubs on a car, another step towards everything is disposable. Just to put fly in your pudding , I replaced some wheel bearings once, about ten years ago, cost about $80 for two in think
