Hello,
I am going to replace the water pump on my TD5 looking at either a QH one or genuine one anyone used a QH do they last ?
Land Rover DISCOVERY 2 & DEFENDER -TD5 WATER PUMP - Quality QH Brand!!!! | eBay
Thanks
Ian
I ended up fitting genuine when I did mine, but I wouldn't have any qualms using QH. They are a very reputable manufacturer.
It might be worth looking at doing the o-ring between the water pump bracket and the block while you are doing the pump. It's a bit fun but you can pull the bracket with the pump in situ and do the pump before reinstalling the bracket. You don't need to touch the turbo or centrifugal filter housing etc, but the trade off is you have to unbolt ps pump, air con pump, and ace pump if you have it fitted. They can all be moved out of the way easily enough.
Cheers
Paul
You'll know get 200000km out of a genuine and about 2000km out OEM believe me. It not worth trying to save $100.

We sell all and From our experience it depends on quality of the product and correct fitting. eg a water pump might fail due to stressed imposed on it from a drive belt that has idler pullies etc that are not running true. Do you blame the water pump?
If that was the case of 2000 kms then every couple of months faulty water pumps would be coming back. Which they arn't
Genuine parts, I fitted a genuine flex plate, not even 5000 kms it showing signs of cracks already. Fuel pressure regulators Genuine leak , Vacuum pumps TDi never buy Genuine they fail, the product was never revised to prevent this, the new aftermarket ones are a better product.
Turbo hoses, why are aftermarket silicon ones being fitted? Genuine must be better.
cheers, Mario
Oh i researched ...i spoke with mechanics fitting them as well and was also told they never had one come back. So went ahead ..and got them to fit it...the leek was from the peep hole.when all cooled down..just drops of coolant.on the floor ..took me a while to catch it coming out the peep hole..that's an internal problem. There may be a few going unnoticed maybe parked on grass. Never again sorry .not worth it.
Yes that block bracket O ring is a definite replace when doing water pump.
A bit like the P gasket on a Tdi when doing ITS water pump, too

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
I just saw coolant trace and I think its from water pump. I just change the pump around 13000 km ago. but I did not change the O ring and the bolts. Is that the O ring (number 4 in the picture) you are referring to JC? Do I need to change the bolts too? Could it be just the O ring and the bolts or I have a faulty water pump? I think it is a genuine water pump.
