Just a question:
How is the condition of your battery?, have you had it load tested?
well its at the point i cannot really drive it nowi had float on the back yesterday as needed to get hay, was going via my physio. i thought it was going a bit weird as it took a couple goes to register it was in reverse when i was backing up to the flaot. drove in fine, then when got in after physio it started but was in limp home mode, not sure what gear it was in. was slipping/revving not going far very fast. so had to limp home with a horseflaot on the back lol. got half way up my drive way when it wouldnt go anymroe, so had to reverse down the steep windy drive way haha. (reversiing skills for the win!) though it was horrible painful
at the bottom i turned it off, started it again and it again fixed itself so i then drove up the drive. so i am thinking xyz switch has definitely given up the fight now. going to take me ages to save up
i have saved 150 over the last few weeks
doesnt help golf has issues too. which im going to get that fixed then sell it and just have the disco and my pano. golf is great but i cant have a car thats going to keep having stuff not work on me
plus cant afford to run so many
need to find a way to make the wipers on the disco automatic lol!
so little stressed and frustrated right now!
Just a question:

nope not been tested, but i assume its pretty good, i can leave the disco untouched for a few weeks and it always starts it first pop. and there is none of that yuck stuff over the terminals.
wondering if i should check/run through other things listed on this thread before i change the xyz switch? it would suck if i were to replace it and then it still do it lol!

i have a battery charger
check the plug on the harness to the xyz switch. If it is loose or gets wet it can play up with symptoms as per xyz! Also check harness over the transfer case for wear/fraying.
Cheers Scott
ill get it load tested, can it be starting fine but still be dying so to speak? ill do that first and then check wiring harness, and then i might pull switch out and if its yuck inside i know its a goner. my wheel bearing/hub sounds awful. had to drive it around lastnight (as my golf wont start LOL in checking fuses carefully i must have put one back not in right spot which ill fix later am very worn out and in all worlds of pain at the moment) had to go searching for my dogsthey got out lastnight so stressful long night of yelling at top of my lungs. but least trusty disco still had my back in searching until 4 am. world hates me lol 2 cars down, least i found my dogs this morning when went looking in day time again.
i will be getting it load tested over weekend, my ex's dad has one so is going to let me borrow it. what sort of numbers should i expect? lol i have no clue when it comes to batterys!
The load tester should give you a pass/fail reading
I have had situations where I have not driven it for a while, still starts and drives fine, but will flash up the m&s fault on the 3rd or 4th start, battery get run down through starting and short trips
Yours may check out fine, but I would definately get it on a charger and give it a good charge, then check wiring/connectors if you are still having issues
They are very fussy about voltage
