Not just Landrovers, most if not all major manufacturers do this to reduce costs in producing multiple looms

new brake pads on no mroe grinding or horrible noises!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
drives so nice again WOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! then i discovered how important a little clip was on the xyz switch haha i was under there trying to see the loom (which i seriously cannot get a good look at to tell if its rubbed through or anything) but then a clip fell off the end. so i put it back, obviously did not put it back on properly as then i get in, move it out of shed and trans is like in first and not doing anything! turn it off, check it out. the whole thing had slid haha. go find the clip on the ground and move it and put it all back on and starts fine and is all fine!

then took it for a quick drive to bed the new pads in, gave it a little wash. then on way back another light came on in the dash! the trans oil temp is high light!!!!!!!!!! even though was short drive. it flashed on and off a few times, even after pulled over for a bit. then it went off. so i think i need to service trans in next few days and check oil levels in there.as i dont think it was too hot. didnt even feel warm inside which it often does after running for a while. could be i wet the sensor or something as gave under the car a good hi pressure rinse at the car wash. who knows! haha!
but piccies, old rear brake pads were very very worn!

    filthy xyz switch!

    and semi clean

If you washed under the bonnet it is likely you have water in the sensor connector, causing the light to flash on

Happened to mine when I copped a wave on a section of washed out track down at beachport

The connector is on the o/s front of the engine bay next to the radiator, pull apart and dry it out should fix the issue

You got your moneys worth out of those pads. Did you machine or replace the rotors?

haha those are the pads it came with luckily ive nto driven too far on them! rotors are all good surprizingly! so not replaced those. it brakes a lot better now and so quiet my brake fluid is yuck, so i will change that this week. can you bleed these things the same as a normal vehicle or do you need to plug them up and run some system process thing for brake bleeding? LOL!

and i seem to have fixed my sisters car in cleaning all the black egr gunk out of everything and putting the bypass on it!

i was wondering if water has gotten in there from cleaning, and had to cross really deep water last week. so i shall have a looksie

cant wait until ive sold the golf then can spoil my disco LOTS

You will have to give that a bath now!

Nice work on sorting the brakes - you wouldn't have got much more out of those pads that's for sure!

well pulled my drivers door trim off today! (glad ive got my own drill now haha) did not break any clips! wooo! but the inside handle stopped working so to get out i had to put window down, and use outside handle. very very hard for a person with only a left hand that works, and is hard to reach! ive cleaned it all and got it working sort of ok again. no idea what its issue is. so hopefully it keeps working!
god the 2 screws underneath that go through the pocket at the bottom of the door were a nightmare. i ended up tying a piece of cotton around the end of the screws so i could sort of direct them back through the hole to be tightened up!!!!!!!!!
