    fuel tank sender

Hey guys, getting really sick of the inaccurete readings, i dont expect down to the litre but low fuel light comes on when approx 40 litres remain, i have been told they are notoriously inaccurate but 40 litre left is a bit much, very hard to feel comfy when out bush having to keep an eye on trip meter to gauge how far before need to fill , i assume new from land rover
Would cost a mint, question is can they be recalibrated if not then second hand from wreckermite not be any better

    Cheers

    Ken

ken, yes the sender is available apparently seperately to the pump, it just clips on the side and the wires unplug from under the pump cover. they are not adjustable.

I have the same problem. But would a new sender fix the problem?

I haven't checked RAVE yet but could the level sender be installed incorrectly, leading to I accurate fuel level readings?

Yes if it's not clipped in correctly that is possible. Not a big job to pull it out to check though.
Just undo the cargo net retaining clips, remove the trim at the boot open end, take out the screw underneath and lift up the carpet to gain access to the panel,
Then just unbolt it and with a wide fat chisel (so as not to break it) tap anti clockwise to unscrew the retaining cap and then lift out the sender.
Be sure not to pinch the O ring when you refit. And check the float arm is not caught up or bent out of shape.
This is all assuming its a td5 -never even looked at a petrol one so not sure if they are the same. But a replacement sender from roverparts online is only $244.

Oh and put your ignition on and pump the accelerator pedal 5 times to bleed the fuel system once your done. Engine light will flash but just leave the car till the flash stops and the fuel pump is quite (aprox 5 mins)
