When I purchase non genuine parts I expect the seller to be selling parts that meet a certain standard. Now it is fair to accept that a non genuine part might not last as long as an OE part, but they should still perform and last a reasonable time. Occasionally you will get a faulty part and this can also happen with OE.

I purchased a water pump from Repco last year for SWMBO's fairlane. It started to leak after 5,000 km. I could not find the receipt so had to cop it. I got another Repco branded pump. It comes with a two year warranty so it must be reasonable quality.

A couple of years ago I pulled apart a falcon water pump to use the bearing for my TDI fan. It was a non genuine pump and the bearing was a smaller diameter the genuine pump bearing.

Well , the pump was in the mailbox at lunchtime, So its in and filled :) No leaks :D YeeHa!! Im sure I can do it blindfolded now! :) Just have to put the new belt on in the morning , ran out of daylight.
Put a new top rad hose on too, and some worm clamps! Dunno why any1 would want those spring clamps, Near impossible to fit easily in close confines. There was mention somewhere of people doing the bleed screw up too tight, Well I changed the new over to my brass 1 and holy mackerel :o the plastic 1 was so tight I had to use pliers to loosen, The screw slot just turned out! It is a genuine L/Rover hose too. Anyway should be good for a few ks again now. just some pics of the pumps and housing, No corrosion evident anywhere after 228000 either .

What you see is all thats left! And its is only there because the heads in the allen bolts turned out when I tried to remove them so I just blanked it at the cooler inlet. When(if?) I ever do the exhaust gasket I will tackle them again.

With the correct band clamp pliers they are very easy to fit. The pliers lock with the clamp open, you position the clamp and release the lock. Much easier than rooting around with worm clamps.

Yes I thought as much But out here in the sticks back of whoop whoop and the far side of the black stump :) I have never seen them let alone used. And after all these years of worm clamps they are second nature now :D Do you have a pic of said clamp pliers?

That's the type although Hazet gear (not Hanet) is a tad pricey.

I picked set of 2 cheap pliers from ebay, but the one I use is like this:

HOSE CLAMP PLIER--SWIVEL HEADS SUIT FLAT BANDS--RATCHETING LOCK--NEW | eBay

The other clamp type that is really common on the D2 is Clic-r. These turn up on things like the fuel cooler on the Td5, the radiator bleed hose, ACE/power steering resevoir, etc.

I have been dealing with Roverlords for over 2 years , I have recommended them to several friends who are also more than pleased with the service , I find his sales service and after sales service second to none :thumbsup: , I have never had a broblem with any of his products if genuine or after market and if I did I would not hesitate to contact them either by phone or email , I would certainly never bag him on a public forum , Word of mouth can do a lot of harm , Key board warriors need to get a life and harden up :2up:
