Any precautions when replacing battery?

I have the Supercharge MF31 as Paul has pointed out...no dramas as of yet and I think it came with an excellent warranty...I will have to check. Heaps of grunt (CCA)...

I have seen prices online for about $250 so that is definitely a no. I checked Repco and they checked their computer which said I can get the NS70X which only has a CCA of 670 A. Will this be enough? I am confused about the recommended specs for a battery for the D2 V8. I checked RAVE and couldn't find any specs.

I will call Hastings Deering tomorrow and ask if they stock the 115-2422 1000CCA. Hopefully it will be cheaper than $468.

Yes, I did actually look at the Supercharge batteries but couldn't find a shop that stocks them. I just checked again though and there is a Supercharge office/warehouse (?) in Rockhampton. I will call them as well as Hastings Deering tomorrow.

Which would be better? Supercharge or CAT?

EDIT: I just checked the battery that is in the truck now and it is a Supercharge N70ZZ with a CCA of 660 A. Looking at the available dates-stickers on the battery it is between 4 and 6 years old though so it seems to have been doing allright.

I just checked and all three have 12 months warranty, which is probably the minimum legal limit.

Called up, was told it was in stock, picked it up that afternoon.

Pricing should be the same...

Hastings Deering in Rocky has the CAT 115-2422 1000CCA in stock and it costs $235. Seems like an awesome deal compared to Supercheap. Will pick it up this afternoon.

Good choice Trippy. Cat batteries have been the market leader, OMHO for the last fifty years or so.

The new 1000 CCA Caterpillar battery is now in. It was a very tight fit though. There is a little 'thing' in the way (see photo below) but I managed to squeeze it in. Hopefully the little 'thing' will stay put and not get pushed off by the battery.

The starter motor sounds like it is on speed when with the new battery. Maybe it was struggling with the old 660 CCA battery.
