    FPR Help!

Hey guys I have been reading the posts on the fuel pressure regulators and it appears I have the same issue on my D2 classic. I took it to Jervis Bay Automotive yesterday and he quoted me $320 for the part and 4 hours labour coming to a grand total of $700 (including part) is this a good price? Although I am mechanically minded I don't think this is something I can do by myself. I'm only a poor sailor and $700 seems a bit steep seeing as nose of you have done it yourselves in half an hour.
    Thanks for the help

4 hrs seems a long time for a workshop to fit it. Yourself? yes it is quite doable, lots of threads on how to on here. The FTR price seems about right thats about what I paid for mine but never cost any thing like that to have them fit it
    Cheers Scott

If it is not empting the fuel tank in 20kms onto the road it is cheaper to get it from overseas.

    Hi Shell
Ok, I just replaced the fuel block on my '01 auto for the second time in six years at workshop prices, yeah, $300-something for the block plus labour. However, it started leaking on my '99 manual and I'm going a different route with this.
I've already got the "o"ring kit from the UK - about $16, I'm about to order the gasket for the fuel block and the FPR itself, see AULRO thread here...with Bosch part number. I think on eBay the FPR itself is about $60.
An hour (or so for us first timers ) to do at a cost of, ooh, let's call it a hundred bucks...
Have a look and see what you think
    Cheers

with all the proper dowels and tools I book them out at 1 hr for a deefer FPR and 2 for a Disco.

If the engine bay is not already spotlessly clean I book out another hour for clean up time

The laster units with the three hoses requires removal of the inlet manifold to change the hose behind it (which personally I would recommend doing as I have had one fail on my previously) and therefore would be a four hour job. The 2 connection units are probably half hour to an hour job.

Don't leave it too long. I sold a customer in Ipswich a heap of parts to repair the results of an engine fire caused by the fuel pressure regulator line across the underside of the inlet manifold failing.

The leaking fuel also damages the starter motor which is below it.

It took me 2 hours to remove and refit the FPR today on a 99 D2 TD5, working at a leisurely pace.

That included fitting the new o ring and washer kit purchased off ebay($15.00). All genuine parts.

I am a back yarder, so it can't be too difficult a job to achieve.

The only thing I recommend to use is a six point 10mm 3/8 drive socket plus extensions, it will save a lot of swearing.

    Cheers,

    Jason
