    A pillar fixings

Been putting up with the dreaded A pillar leak for a while but damp headlining has now become dripping water so I'm forced into action on what on all accounts is a mongrel job. Has anyone sourced the plastic/nylon rivets(79086L) and the retaining clips(AWR4426) for the external A pillar in Oz. Will try and follow urban Panzers method for saving the rivets for reuse but don't trust my skill.
    Thanks

The clips and rivets are easy enough to get, and if you have trouble finding I have some of the metal clips spare - possibly the 6 needed.

Before you go ripping the A-Pillar cover off just make sure it's not a leak from cracked sealant in the rain gutter. Even a small crack is enough to cause wet headlining. I had this happen on my D2 and found a crack in the sealant just above the a-pillar. I ended up scraping out the line of the crack and refilling with Sikaflex. Still need to put some touchup paint over the repair but it's worked like a charm so far.

    cheers

The plastic rivets are the only thing I have bought from Land Rover Australia. They are different to the original ones but do the same job.

I would be surprised if you need the metal concealed clip. They are robust and don't break unlike the A-Pillar metal clip retainer. It is crap.

Don't be surprised if you need to buy new covers after removing. ~$60 each.

Also, there is some debate about the need to remove the plenum to remove the windscreen. I believe you need to. My plenum came back cracked, a hole in it and "that's how it was" comment.

    Regards

Thanks OffTrack. Just mentally planning for the job at the mo and do plan to take a magnifying glass to the gutter sealant & roof rail pad 1st off and live in hope its going to be that easy.
