    V8 Coolant Hoses

My father over in the UK posted me a new genuine LR Hose (Thermostat, to Water Pump, to Rad) it was on special offer at a LR local spares place and my 2001 is still running the original. The old one is still fine so I can carry this as a spare.

The new hose sections are joined up via a plastic junction. The old one vulcanised together at joints. Is this new design better that the old or just different?

Im not sure whether to put the new one in now? Or as the current one is OK merely carry the other as a spare?.

I replaced the top hose last year and had to add a second clamp as it never sealed as well as the original and gives the odd drip so I re tighten the hose now and then.

Mine's a 2000 p38 and has burst two hoses in the last 6 weeks.

I figured that when the second one burst that it is probably age related so this afternoon I picked up the other 5 hoses to make a full set.

Now I just have to figure out how to get to the top end of the water pump inlet hose.

I may best best putting the new one and keeping the old one a a spare. My top hose was done when in for service but that top inlet kept dripping. So I removed it and cleaned around the lip of the metal pipe with some wet and dry paper seals ok now...

Those plastic joins are the norm these days.
I wasn't happy with them, but that's all there is.
Something to do with manufacturing costs.

The other 2% made it home.

Cost difference between Britpart and Genuine seals: £2.04. Knowing that your brakes won't fail at any moment: Priceless.
