G'day,
I have just ordered a new lhf window regulator for my D2 and am after a bit of advice.
My window is stuck about 1cm from the top, motor and all is fine it just won't move. I know the manual says to wind the window down til the bolts securing the window to regulator are accessible as the first step in removing the regulator. I am thinking I won't be able to do this as my window is stuck.
Any tips on getting this done and any other pitfall heads up would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Shaun.
Haven't had to do this on a Disco yet, but I had to remove some window glass recently to get to window regulator on another make. The windows were all the way up, similar to yours. Used a racket spanner to get to the two screws that held the glass to the regulator. As the part was coming off a wreck, I could pull the metal out a bit to get easier access from the top.
Could you also try and undo the motor and then twist it / lever it or move the regulator arm to get the glass to come down? May provide more access to get onto the bolt.
Pull the door trim off and have a look. It may be hooked up on something or something in the regulator is broken which is causing it to get stuck.
On my old soft dash classic the regulator window support rail in the front passenger side door occasionally got hooked up on the inside door frame. Once bent back it would move and I could fix the underlying problem (rust in channel spreading the metal)
Cheers
Steve
I think you will find that if you undo the regulator and the wiring at the connector, the window will come down.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Cheers guys, will give it a go this week sometime and see how it goes I guess.
How very timely - ive just pulled the inner door skin off to have a look.
Its previuosly done this and self fixed itself with a pit of persuiasion - but really dont know how or why.
When i operate the window with the inner skin off, I can see the regulator moving about like the bolts holding it are loos or have given way. Over the weekend, ill take the plastic whether proofing membrane off an have a proper look.
Will be interested in what you found, and how you fix it.
