    Dash Globes

The lights in my clock and the left cabin temp switch don't work. I have just removed them with the intention of going to my local Repco in the morning to get new globes.

Upon removal it appears that the globe and holder are one piece. Are these globes a generic item that I should be able to get from Repco, or are they LR specific?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

With the clock on mine, I inadvertently ripped the globe out.
However, some quick jiggling allowed me to get a new one in and it works.

Have a read of this, probably mentions them

    Mr Whippy

    Hi there
you need to get 2 credit type cards( I used Medicare & Frequent flyers as neither of them are any good) and put a small knife edge on the long side, then just slip them in above and below the clock to get it out, they take a little bit of wriggling to get in,but that's always the way, then the clock can be slid out with the cards.
Now you can remove the 2 switches on the right side of the A/C control SLS & HDC they come out with a bit of help and don't worry if the fronts come off them as they just clip back on.
Once you have these out you can pit your finger in either side if the A/C control and push in on the 2 spring clips(they are wide spring steel) and slide the A/C switch group out the globe are there for you to change.
the globe are just twist and pull but you need the whole Assy as the globes don't come out of the holder.
I used some old D1 globes to fix mine but the Odometer one is 1 of a kind so i'll have to go genuine.
    cheers
    Paul

Paul. If you re-read my OP you will see that I have the clock and climate control module out. I was wanting to know whether the globes were available from a generic parts shop or whether I had to go to LR.

One of the tools was an old medicare card after grinding all the numbers off to make it smooth.

You may be lucky with the local parts shop. In my case i ended up at the land rover dealer and globes for the aircond unit had to be ordered in. There are also Led equivalents available on eBay, which are cheaper.

Some people have also got bare globes from jaycar, reused the green cover and plastic base.

    Cheers

    T5s?

They look like T5 bulbs. 5mm with two wires folded to make circuit. Can get led replacements. Someone also suggested 12v bulbs from jaycar if smaller.

Is a T5 bulb a globe on its own or a globe and socket? With my clock I have tried to remove the globe from the socket but it wont budge, telling me that I have to buy globe and socket as one.

T5 is globe by itself. Also known as wedge bulb. So perhaps not one, if can't remove it.

I managed to remove it somehow, and with a new globe it works....
    Probably not advisable though.

    Have a look at these

    These may do the job.

    Osram 286TAC 12V 1 2W T5 Instrument Panel Light Bulb Holder X 10 | eBay

The url has the bulb dimensions. Can you compare these to the bulbs in your vehicle and indicate if they fit?
