    Loose Cigarette lighter.

    Evening folks.
One thing that has always bothered me is the cigarette lighter has never been secure within the plug, rapid acceleration can cause it to eject and end up wedged under the hand brake.
Is this a common issue? Haven't been able to find any reference to it.
    Any suggested fixes?

I had this problem with my 107" Thomas, which resulted in loss of power to GPS & worse the fridge. I think 20,000 kms & a lot on corrugations had caused vibration of the plug to spread the two metal tabs inside the socket. So most important first disconnect battery - found out the hard way. Insert small screw driver ito socket under the tab & lever it out. Repeat for 2nd tab. Insert plug or lighter & see if fit is better. Worked for me & only drops out now on very rough tracks.

In a similar vain the Piper Cheyenne (PA42) had a problem with its ciggy lighter that resulted in an Airworthiness Directive. After pushing in the lighter it would sometimes come out with such force that it landed in the rear seat & could cause a fire hazard!

Have you got the original type plug? There are two types. The European ones are slightly fatter.

Although if you are a non smoker, why not put a cap over it or usb adapter or torch.....something useful

Not quite sure. It just annoyed me
I had previously run a multi-socket from there but I found the wires were getting in the way.
A torch might be a good idea
