Yes, I just had my fuel pump & transfer case go in the same week, all before a full service by Justin Cooper. Very knowledgeable & allround great guy but I can't afford him for every problem I encounter on the discovery train.. :pQuote:

I just recently bought a repair kit that included two o-rings plus two worm drive clamps from someone on this forum. Does that say something about them, or about how they see me as a mechanic!Quote:

There was a UK kit available a couple of years ago that contained 4 o-rings and a small tube of o-ring grease. There are two o-ring slots at each end of the cooler so fitting the extra two o-rings is just a matter of putting them into the extra slots. This effectively upgrades the sealing of the end caps and provides some additional resistance to pivoting of the end caps when the hoses are moved. The assumption was that you'd follow either the Alex Threfall or Urban Panzer how to and refit the original clips. You can do it without the pliers but it's very fiddly - I gave up after spending 30 minutes on one clip, and temporarily fitted worm drive clamps until I got the pliers. It took a couple of minutes to refit the clips using the pliers.

Unfortunately Alex stopped selling his kits in 2011. I'd picked one up soon after I'd got the D2 as an emergency kit, but didn't need until a year or so later.

The pliers basically avoid the "fight" UP describes refitting the clip. These are the ones I got:

I'm not sure what it says about the sellers or buyers of the worm drive clamp and o-ring kits. Sellers are meeeting a demand from buyers so you can hardly fault them on that.
Buyers are perhaps not aware you can pick up the o-rings and pliers for a similar cost to the clamp kits, and see using the clamps as an easy fix? Who knows.

Yep ordered some clic-r clamp pliers from south korea for $25, repco said they'd cost $67 so bugger that..i'd worm drive it all day long!
Ordered 4x Viton BS225 O-rings through Tas Bearing & Chain, will probably just do the front end which is leaking & leave the fuel cooler in place. Or do both ends when I get the intake manifold out for a clean before I blank off the egr & add silicone hoses etc.
