1) Yes & no - depends how prices are around me (not many stations in my neck of the woods)
2) Amber light only occasionally - I have been doing some usage comparisons with the recently sold Td5 manual - which was returning about 8.3l/100km with what felt like a substantial chip in it - need whatever that was for the auto!
3) About a 60 to 70min trip each way to the "orifice", about 50% easy highway 90km/h then 50% stop start when I hit the 'burbs

Tank was clean and shiny inside when I put the last one in about 4 years ago, would hope the mech would have mentioned any crud in there when they put this one in.

Sounds like Il stick with some thing sold from a rover shop maybe try Mr automotive

do you realise its only a half hour job (I cut a flap in the rear mat) ....disconnect the fuel lines....unscrew the locking ring, lift the old pump out , carefully place the new one in...so not to bend the float...slide the seal down the pump , lower pump in , replace the lockring, replace the fuel lines.....you may not even have to prime it if youre lucky.

how much does your mechanic charge for that?
