Thanks very much for the replies. I am still trying to source a refurb one locally, but may import from UK for around $500. I'd even consider a chinese one but five seems to be the minimum order (they couldn't be any worse than the original). I've seen the video on how to do it, and a few years ago would have pinned the ears back and gone for it. I live in Echuca and already get a BMW serviced over in Shep, and I drive through Romsey en route to the big smoke, so will check out those recommendations. Thanks again for all the help.

there is sticky thread in the good oil on this job.....you don't need to remove your radiator and you don't need to use your starter to get the bolt out.....there is a good pictorial on the job and advice on tools .....its not hard....if you follow the advice its actually easy.

I am not sure how they would recondition one of these as the rubber is one of the things that fails.
I would suspect TRS are getting one with a reasonable rubber then replacing the bearing.
As they have a finite lifespan I would suspect you will be doing it all over again in the future.

A new one is winging its way from the UK for $448 (incl freight). When I get some free time I'll have a lash at installing it and advise how I went.

EGR kit and silicone hoses £78
I thought I might as well do a few other things at the same time while the hands are dirty, like replace the front crankshaft oil seal, blank the EGR, and replace a few gaskets. The EGR kit includes the blue intercooler replacement hoses and at £78 I thought was pretty good value, considering that locally I'd seen the EGR kit for some $139 and the blue hose kit for $200.

I noticed that all the radiators are clogged with spinifex so I'll take them all right out and give them a blast down at car lovers (I've got a Karcher but our storm water goes into the Murray- the crap off the disco makes the murray crays taste funny).
