Thread: Disco 2 Door Lock Actuator

Hi all, the Disco has developed a new problem (considering Disco 1 for reliability!) the drivers door won't open with the rest of the doors when you press the button (still works with the key in the door) so we've narrowed it down to the lock actuator and we know how to get it out but it's not cheap even on evil bay. I've read threads on other forums and they said that they popped open the little actuator box and replaced the motor or un-seized the little gearbox inside. The problem is I have no clue how to open the box without breaking something, I've taken out the 3 screws that are visible but it doesn't even feel loose so obviously there's other things holding it together. If anyones played with one of these before please let me know how you got that little box open.

My drivers side one packed up too, and I ordered one from Melbourne.

In the three weeks waiting for it to arrive in PNG, with my Hawkeye I change the procedure so the car self locked as you pulled away. Low and behold, the dirvers door now works and has done so for the 4 months since I did this.

I now have a $100+ actuator sitting in the shed not needed

The moral of the story is it may not be completely stuffed?
