    Disco 2 Door Lock Actuator

Hi all, the Disco has developed a new problem (considering Disco 1 for reliability!) the drivers door won't open with the rest of the doors when you press the button (still works with the key in the door) so we've narrowed it down to the lock actuator and we know how to get it out but it's not cheap even on evil bay. I've read threads on other forums and they said that they popped open the little actuator box and replaced the motor or un-seized the little gearbox inside. The problem is I have no clue how to open the box without breaking something, I've taken out the 3 screws that are visible but it doesn't even feel loose so obviously there's other things holding it together. If anyones played with one of these before please let me know how you got that little box open.

    Ditto

I ended putting a new one is as well. Given the work getting in to remove the new one and out again I don't want to go have to replace it again soon.

    Cheers

I just replaced my drivers side actuator with a new one bought from ULR Malvern (Melbourne) who can post you one. The price has come down and they're cheaper than the eBay price now. I paid about $135.

    Fixing door lock actuators

Awesome, i was going to order a new one eventually from the UK for my RH rear door. It will lock with the remote but wont unlock. You see the button move a little but thats it. I think i will take it apart first and have a squizz. Such a pain sometimes not getting in through that door with the pick up from school.

Thanks for the replies, I'll chuck in another actuator eventually but I've got nothing to lose opening up the old one and seeing if its possible to fix it.

My drivers side one packed up too, and I ordered one from Melbourne.

In the three weeks waiting for it to arrive in PNG, with my Hawkeye I change the procedure so the car self locked as you pulled away. Low and behold, the dirvers door now works and has done so for the 4 months since I did this.

I now have a $100+ actuator sitting in the shed not needed

The moral of the story is it may not be completely stuffed?

    Cheers, Jerry
