Glad you've got it working again! Agree with the weak point about the latches - they seem too complex and do need to be nurtured a bit. When we did our big lap including up near your place up to Gove and Cape Arnhem (beautiful spot!), I was cleaning and lubing the back door every week or so as all our food and camping gear was behind the cargo barrier and we would have been buggered if the rear door latch gave up!

Hope the sandflies aren't too bad this year.

    Cheers

Sandflies have their moments but you don;t notice them when the barra are on Still haven't got across to Cape Arnhem, heard only good things so hopefully can get across there in August for a long weekend. Interested to know what you used as lube? I've settled for WD40, it does hold dust but I've resigned myself to just spraying it in there frequently on all the latches, especially the rear one. Cheers, Daniel

    Cape Arnhem:

As far as lubricants for the door locks goes, I use a 3 step process:

1.clean the lock with Inox spray and wipe clean using a rag and a screwdriver to get into the tricky places.

    2. then use DuPont Teflon dry wax lubricant: DuPont? TeflonĀ® Multi-Use Lubricant but it looks like the dry wax dirt resisting formula has changed so I would now use this:
    DuPont? TeflonĀ® Chain-Saver Lubricant
I bought this at a yachting supplies shop.

    3. Then puff on some graphite powder !

The main thing is to use a lubricant that resists dirt. A good quality bike chain wax lubricant would be good also I recon.

    Cheers
