Thread: Whats this odd bumper?

With the size of our family having exceeded the number of seats in the Series 3, we are looking at getting a Disco 2 (and without too much fuss getting to keep the Series 3!). I have test driven a few and on saturday put a deposit on one. Will get it checked over by MR Automotive this week, but I have a couple of questions.

Can anybody tell me what this odd looking plastic bumper is (see photo), and if i would have to replace the entire bumper if I wanted to get rid of it? It has a couple of cracks which look cosmetic, but then the whole bumper looks cosmetic...

I test drove a 2003 S TD5 in the morning, it had two folding rear seats that folded into recesses in the back. Then I test drove a 2003 S TD5 in the afternoon, right seat is recessed and the left side is not - was there a model change and what did they put in there? First one had '3' in the vin for build year, second had '4'.

Any comments much appreciated..

I'm pretty sure if the car has rear Airconditioning then the left hand seat can't recess as there's the unit in there.
