    Bonnet cable snapped

I have read posts in search, but most relate to bonnet hard to open.
But what do you do when the cable snaps at the latch end?
    Cheers, Mario

    I've been through this drama.

The only way is to stick your arm in under the grill with a stanley knife, cut the plastic shroud off that protects the latch and the with a piece of wire with a hook on the end catch the latch and pull. This releases the bonnet.

Beware the edge of the grll can be sharp and cut you!

There is a very good south african site with full pictorial explanation, I'll see if I can locate the link.

    Cheers, Jerry

I used a sharpened screwdriver poked through the grille to chisel off the plastic protector, then it's fairly easy to manipulate the latch.

So bee utey ,your saying you can approach it from the front ( Grille) and not from underneath? I have a big old screw driver that I can grind a edge on. The stupid thing is it's been had to pull the cable for weeks and I've got them sitting on the shelf, but laziness has caught me out 'cuase it looked like a pain to route it through. You learn by tardiness

Well, it's what I did, some time before I was on AULRO otherwise I would have pictures to prove it.

Note I only did it once, it may not be applicable to all D2 models. Out with yer torch, see if you can spot the protector from the front. If yea, then attack it forsooth. I think it took me about 1/2 hour from when the customer turned up to when I had it open, without a handy forum to give me the step by step instructions, so it can't be all that hard.
