    Speedo and Engine cuts out

Was wondering if anyone has had a problem with the speedo briefly dropping to 0 and engine cut out at the same time. This happens for about 1 second and then all back to life again. Appears to happen at lowish speeds and load, never has happened at freeway speeds or with cruise on.
    Thoughts ?

If you can add details of which engine D2 and year, you may get a little more help forthcoming.

    And welcome to the forum.

Electrical? I had a car once that started bunny hopping every time I put the foot down. Turned out a dry joint in the power circuit of the ecu had enough resistance that the current load of the spark plugs caused enough of a voltage drop for the ecu to turn off. As soon as the sparks stopped, load went down, voltage went back up and ecu started again. Then the sparks kicked in etc etc etc.

Sounds like an intermittent electrical fault to me. Do the lights or stereo stop too?

    Thanks Pinelli

All other electrics continue to work and tacho works fine whilst the engine and speedo do their hesitate thing. Will check earth points this weekend.

When the Nanocom powers up, the dash shuts down for a second or 2 and comes back. But doesn't effect the running. Sounds like a similar source of the power shutting off through a connection somewhere.
