Pictures of my D2 racking
In another post in general chat, I asked about folding composite material, and someone suggested I post some pictures.

This is a general view. The racks are designed to use Big W plastic drawers as I have found them to be very durable on previous trips if not allowed to rattle around. thes ehave been to the Kimberleys and Cape York . The fridge slide is for my Engel, and I plan to fit a drawer under the cross rail , but short enough not to impede airflow to the fridge.

A closer view of the shelves. The shelves are made of composite aluminium/plastic / aluminium usually used to make signs but very light and rigid. I made guides for the drawers from aluminium angle. The frame has little ledges about 5mm from the top and the shelves were bonded in place using Sikaflex. The catch is KISS.

The base for the whole contraption is 5 ply which is attached over the carpet by the 8MM corner hold down bolts which have to be replaced with 30MM bolts. The load spreading shims are actually brackets from an office chair that I dismantled before chucking, and they have threads in them for maybe future use.

Each leg has a 4MM Rivnut inserted and is bolted to the floor using 1/4 through bolts with "Fender washers" underneath to spread the load if the car rolled and nyloc nuts.
I think the Qubeloc, or the cheaper Bunnings Knock off in this case is a really practical way to make up rear drawers. The total cost was about $220 AFAIR with $50 for offcuts of composite material from Fairlight Plastics. I still have enough to make a rear table and I think a drawer above the fridge. The qubelock cost about $170 all up AFAIR.
It only takes about 5 minutes to undo 6 Phillips screws in the legs and 4X13MM bolts to remove the whole thing.
I left the space on the right for 2xDirectors chairs with side table which fit there snugly. I should also be able to fit 1x10L water jerry behind the drawers when I take off the door pocket and fit the table.
