Oh, and by the by... The cheapest way would be to buy one of each, and sell the one that doesn't work. :)

The answer as which one you should buy is in the above responses to your question:
and both bob10 and my own responses that our 2000MY D2's had 433Mhz fobs.Quote:

There are four ways to find out what frequency your vehicle has:
1) Look up in Microcat - this tells you what frequency was fitted at the factory. This may have been changed by a dealer to fix problems caused by interference;
2) Contacting a dealer - the LR vehicle database should have updated records if the fob frequency was changed in the field;
3) Get a lock smith to scan the frequency the fob is transmitting on;
4) Drop the rear of the head-lining and physically check the part number of the receiver unit fitted to the vehicle.

Just an FYI to those in Melbourne. I had my working key scanned by the locksmith in a van (not sure of the business name) at Latrobe UNI market which is on Sunday mornings. All done free of charge whilst shopping for other things :)
433 was very painful for me in my 02...to many Amcal chemists and me having to avoid them or if I didnt see one until it was to late and I had turned off and walked away, then having to push or tkw the truck 100m away to get it stsrted. Out of warranty I took LR up over this and after initially giving me the its out of warranty response they changed receiving unit and fobs back to 315. Never had another issue anywhere.
Since had a new genuine key with fob purchased for $250 and cut for $15 at an independent key and shoe shop.
Cheers
