New TD5 MAP sensor has cured a couple of problems

My Disco had been plagued with a a general rough/noisy slightly gutless feel to it since I had given it a service when I first purchased it ten months ago. It also had an on/off throttle when backing off that gave a drivetrain clunk, even on cruise. Through a process of elimination I thought it might have been my overzealous use of parts cleaner on the MAP sensor. I finally got a new Bosch MAP sensor through Paddocks for a very reasonable price. I stuck it in today and now have a car with smoother auto changes, runs quieter, has noticeably more power, and revs less to get the same amount of power. It has also cured the romp that other TD5s often get as they coast at low speed. I actually quite liked that feature. I'm guessing that micromechanical sensor does not like to be hit hard with parts cleaner. I've kept the old MAP sensor as an emergency spare. The nanocom readings for the sensor all appeared smooth. I became truly suspicious of the sensor after disconnecting the MAF and finding that on occasions the car would not increase revs at all for about two or three seconds when depressing the throttle. Then it would suddenly launch. The MAF appears to compensate for the sticky MAP.

    Mate,

Any idea how much you pay for the MAP sensor?

Part number is MHK100640. It is actually a pressure and air temp sender. I got mine from Paddocks including postage for £75.24. You'll need to check out the current exchange rate to convert that. Paddocks took a month to get it to me. It is branded under many names with different part numbers so you should be able to get cheaper. See this link to see the variety: 18 MHK 100640,UNIPART 18MHK100640 for CHRYSLER,LAND ROVER,DODGE,IVECO
