Seriously?
Something wrong there methinks..
My stock Td5 is capable of ^150*, and will easily pull past 120 on hills.
With all you've got on you should be able to exceed that quite easily.

Agreed mate, the humble TD5 is a cracker (no pun intended!) of a motor capable of some impressive numbers. Some of the things mine has done with 2300kg worth of van behind it still amazes me.

On the money there mate, it's a top donk.
Coming back to the OP, if the MAF has stayed the same then going off what people say, when they're replaced/cleaned the outcome is quite remarkable.
Running a Td5 at upwards of 130Km/h for sustained periods or up hills might not be a good idea (if you like your pistons to remain solid :p ) but it should still be able to get there.
Good luck OP, every time I read about the VNT kits, I think I drool a little :p
Hi all, I am now in a position to remap at will having just done the NNN ecu swap with a map from Td5inside and as yet have not had a chance to take it for a decent run until this morning when I will be travelling home to Caboolture from Miles on r&r.
I will be watching the exhaust temps with interest very close.
Before I came back out here to work the vehicle developed a bit of a hiccup/pause/hesitation when taking off and on the drive out it felt sluggish/doughy and so far the NNN with new map has not changed this. Fuel pump anyone, maybe?
Cheers,
Mike
Could it possibly be your boost box. I have a vnt fitted and my boost box failed, producing a miss when boost went over about 18psi. Trouble shooter it by disconnecting the box and did same thing. Replaced it and all happy again.
Hi all, sorry for the delay, just got back from camping.
Well I towed the camper (about 1.7 tonne) over some very hilly and windy roads getting to and from Levuka and I can now say that there is definitely something wrong with the boost box or the turbo boost control needs adjusting.
I was watching the boost gauge and it was spiking to 22psi at times when kicking down hard and when taking off quickly.
I will have to contact manufacturer to ask if there is a way to test it on the bench.
This may help I have a Turbo Technics VNT on a TD5 Defender
I can make it go up to 25 PSI by accelerating it normally runs at 23-24 PSI.
I also have a Allisport Inter-cooler.
EGTs can range from 350 to 450 while cruising
