Oil filler cap stuck. Guns clearly not big enough

Well this is a new one.

Went to top up the oil today, oil filler cap is completely stuck.

Car was cold so I tried it when the car was hot, no difference. Used a rag for more grip, managed to snap some bits off the edge. Did not budge a mm.

I'm packing myself just quietly because I know she needs more oil..

Anyone have a mechanic tip I can use short of destroying the thing to get it off..?

Must be a V8 if it needs oil.

Have you tried a pipe wrench or an oil filter wrench.

you can try using 2 screwdrivers to lever it around by pushing the flats on the tips to the rocker cover to act as the pivot point and then pushing the lugs of the cap around with the shaft using the handle as your leverage.

but if youre snapping bits off with just your hand and a rag...

Perhaps squirt it with a pressure can of freeze spray to shrink it a bit and break the seal.

You laugh but I did that yesterday!

Ended up needing two of us and an industrial sized set of vice grips.
No idea why it would have gotten so tight..

    Thanks gents!
