The history of the truck is that it's come from Victoria, it's only in ACT as recently as 3 months ago.
He said it was on the Penninsula, so that does make it coastal truck. I'll need to double check that.
The rust only shows up on the hinges... any other rust is hidden as it was put up on the hoist to check out the underbody this morning.

As an note on the rust, 2 D2's I looked at before my present 1 had rust around the bonnet hinges. Both had been Sunshine Coast cars and both were '00 models. At the time I thought that if they had rust there in an easy to see and keep clean area, It was run a mile time! :D Hope your is fixable though, The ACE removal was a retrograde step on the previous owners part though! :(

Just a thought, the poms all rip out ACE because when it corrodes its shockingly expensive to fix, if there's signs of rust then it's possible the ACE system was removed for the same reasons.Quote:

Yes apparently the road salt is to blame. It corrodes the metal lines through. Although there should be a lot of rust on the chassis evident maybe.

Hi there and welcome to the forum
my experience with heaters in D@'s tells me yours is brobably full of Gunk like mine was.
fairly easy fix
remove both heater hoses from the manifold end where they come through the firewall
Pull the nozzle of your garden hose and put the hose on low pressure and let it run thru the heater core if it runs really slow do the same thing in both hoses .
if it's like mine was you will see some pretty interesting GUNK come out of the heater
when you get a good flow in both directions increase the pressure a bit so that it flows the same as the garden hose does.
that should fix your heater problem.
22deg on my temp control is now uncomfortably hot.
try it it takes about 10 minutes
