Hi All
I have a leak in the fuel line near the tank there are 4 lines that come from the tank to the filter they are available at a cost of around $300. Has anyone done this replacement and what is involved do i have to drop the tank or is there an easy way to do the job.

Not a hard job. Don't need to drop tank.
Cover to fuel pump off (middle of the load space under the carpet) then undo green line. then undo the other end near the fuel pump and pull it out. Check for chafing, it's likely to be this line.
I did mine exactly a year ago. Got the green line only for $39 from Ritters.
Make sure you wrap it well when you put it back in.

The Disco was in for that recall and according to the dealer at the time it was done but i will check and see if it has been done then and go from there but it was a while ago and i don't know if it still applies.

I replaced the green line a few months back. It had rubbed through against something. Original lines are expensive (you have to buy all four). I went to Pirtek and purchased some fuel line from them and they even changed over the Landrover ends on the line for me. They also supplied a joiner in case the line (or one of the others) suffered again. All of the industrial hose companies will have these.
The all up price was $32.00.
The joiner is a very simple union. You just cut the damaged section of the line and push both ends into the joiner. THATS IT, it's that simple.
In an earlier life I worked on exploration drill rigs and we used a similar joiner on both fuel and hydraulic lines as a temporary repair but they were so good we usually just left them there.
I also later bought an extra section of fuel line and another joiner in case I had problems with the other lines.
By the way. When I went to see the local LR dealer he told me it was a recall issue but no longer available.

When my green banded hose rubbed through, we were on holidays in the NSW snowys. I ended up being able to buy the single hose from all4X4 at Kotara for 36 dollars. I dropped the tank and found it easier to access everything and get a good picture of where the hose was rubbing. A few meters of insulating tubing, a roll of electrical tape and some well placed cable ties and its all good.

About to head off on a trip - can one of you tell me what size fuel line I need and I will try to pick a some spare and a joiner in case I have a problem.

Had a look under the car today. No signs of wear but I can see where it could happen - so will follow advice and protect with some split tube.

Same as every one said above most of it is done by feel. I just replaced the cluster of lines for piece of mind. Split tube and rapped in elect tape aswell. Typical land rover continue to sell the same product with out changingit to eliminate the problem
good luck the little saddle clips on top of the chassis are fun to do to
