Buying heavily modified D2 from VIC

    Hello,

Thinking about purchasing this D2 as it pretty much has most moods
    I like it to have.

    2004 Land Rover Discovery Td5 03MY

However it has no RWC any idea whether I could get in registered in NSW and how much transport from VIC would cost.

Does someone know the car and it's condition?

Lift is done by Les Richmond and is supposed to be engineered in VIC would that hold up here in NSW?

    Cheers

    Steve

It's 20 minutes up the road from me, if you're serious and need someone to look at it for you I'm happy to.

That is a very appreciated offer

I would like to buy the car but would need to know how what condition it is in and how much I have to spent to get it registered in NSW and roadworthy, apparently the lift kit is engineered.

Sorry no disrespect but how LR mechanically & technically LR minded are you?

I'll shoot you a PM. But to quickly answer, I've done all the mechanical work on my '00 model for the last 13 years.

If it runs you can still drive it, even without registration. You need an unregistered vehicle permit from VIC. That enables you to drive it home in VIC and NSW without number plates. It will cost about $50 depending on how long you want the permit for.

Mod specs are different in each state so it can't be transferred straight over without having it engineered in NSW as well, however states like VIC (and possibly NSW) are close to matching the national guidelines now, meaning that if an engineer passed it in VIC, then there is a good chance the guidelines will be met in NSW. BUT it will depend on the modification...

    Steve,
Fly down on the Saturday morning, pop out and have a look at it, drive home on the Saturday afternoon/Sunday.
You might want to get a RACV inspection on it before hand. A UVP can be done over the phone on Saturday (8:30am - 2:00pm).
    Unregistered vehicle permit : VicRoads
I might be able to help with transport from the airport to Mt Evelyn.

The lack of a RWC is irrelevant if the vehicle is going interstate as the Vic RWC will not be recognised in NSW so you will have to go through the same process again. Re engineering - what others have said.

The Vic permit system has to be one of the best around. You can apply online, pay online (cheap) and receive the actual certificate online before you go pick up the vehicle. The Vic permit is recognised by NSW as long as you are doing the trip specified on the permit by the shortest route. You cannot drive around on it once you get to your destination.

I bought my RRS in Melbourne from an independent dealer and came with a Vic RWC (issued by the seller). I obtained my permit before I flew down to pick up the vehicle and drove it back to Canberra where it promply failed its local RWC on a relatively minor matter - the Vic RWC was not worth the paper it was written in interstate.

hm but would not know what I need to change and cost to get it registered here in NSW before buying it I guess.

not sure whether I want to take that risk if it then would cost me thousands here to get it registered.

for example the 4" lift would probably never pass here I assume?

that will be the white tiger kit from les richmond, give them a call and ask if they know of an engineer in nsw that they have worked with, believe they have some favourites that could assist you.
