Gas on D2a
Had gas vapor injection fitted in February,Local Company using Italian made parts.Computer unit filled up with water and failed.
now here's the Clanger.
It was my fault because i washed the motor, as you do sometimes.
not the fact that the MISERLY bead of silastic they put under the cover to seal it doesn't work, and the rubber seal near the plug end of the computer only touches on the 5mm either end of the so called seal which is 120mm long.
Thank god NSW fair trading allows you to file a complaint online now.
we'll see who's going to fork out $600 for a new computer ,only to do this again because taking the cover off to seal it properly "Voids " the warranty.
So It's buyer beware "AGAIN"
any suggestions on this matter appreciated
No Names,YET!!
cheers
Paul

I know that most of the gas ECUs I meet are supposed to be mounted with the connector downwards, to prevent splash water soaking in. I believe they need to be vented to let out the Lucas (Marrelli) smoke and vapour build up.
As for washing an engine bay, no electronic connector should ever receive any strong water stream as the soft rubber gaskets can't handle it. I'd say next time cover the gas ECU with a metal or plastic shield before blasting your way in.
