Has the transfer case lever slipped into neutral?
auto trans fluid on the ground around it?
Regards
Found my car refuse to go. Engine start fine but when put to D, 1, 2, 3, R it doesnt want to go. Looks like a transmission problem.
Anyone has the same experience and anyone can point to the cause of the problem??
TIA

How many k's on the car? My D1 had the same symptoms (and 3hrs from home) and it turned out to be stripped splines in the torque convertor - but it does have 360,000 k's on it. Recon TC was under $200 - the big hassle is removing and re-installing the gearbox and transfer

Its nearly 280000 km.
Went and check the car again as its about 30 minutes from my home.
Found atf on the ground on pasenger side close to radiator. Need to check the rave and see which pipe that off.
Anyone experience this problem? I think I saw a thread about losing transmission pipe somewhere lately on the forum. Thanks.
Have a read of this thread Gus...http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...ion-fluid.html
There are a few threads on this issue.
The hose/pipe splits or the swage blows of like mine did.
If it hasn't been run for to long with no fluid you may get away with it like I did.
I had my hoses repaired by a Enzed type outlet, others have fitted new hoses.
Fill the auto as per the book/rave(run it through the gears ect..).
It will be your left side trans cooler line. Look down between the Air box and front left corner of the motor. More than likely the crimped joint has failed. If it is and you are going to replace it yourself you will need a modified ring or crows foot spanner, or a lot of patience with a 19mm open end spanner to get the fitting off the trans. Suggest you drop the front exhaust pipe off, it makes the job much easier. ( Read the Auto Trans Post a few below this one) Job is not that hard and suggest that you do a trans filter change at the same time and refill as suggested by Alien .

Thanks Harry.
Bought the parts for both LH and RH sides. I thought I do both while under. Do you think its a good thing to do?
But I forgot to order the oring. Do I need to replace them? Can I get the replacement from somewhere else like pirtek etc. it is just pirtek only 10 minutes drive from my place b
If you purchased genuine parts the o rings should already be on the pipe. If not, definitely replace the old ones. You need a 19mm spanner for the transmission end, don't over tighten them. A 10mm for the mid pipe clips and a 8mm for the front mount. Gently remove the old pipes and remember how they came out. Makes putting the new ones in much easier.
Good luck with your project, and remember, patience, proceed slowly.
When you are refilling the trans (running through the gears) check for leaks at the joints you just connected.

Harry.
