Best way to clean engine block
Hi All,
i am in the process of replacing head/gasket...yet to find out if head is cracked. I am wondering what's the best way to clean the engine block before putting new gasket on? The residue left by the old gasket is quite persistent and not much is coming off with the wipe of a acetone soaked rag. just wondering what you guys have done.
regards
Pete

a SOFT scraper can help, but it has to be SOFT. I have used plastic paint scrapers in the past, & I remember as a teenager rebuilding my first series 3 my Dad made up one out of a scrap of copper water pipe that I had for many years.
Cheers,
Alex
