    I have scratched my windscreen

    Dear All

I need advice. I removed some bugs from my screen at the weekend. I used a green scotchbrite pad because I could not find my usual teflon safe one.

    The screen is scratched.

    My fault.

Now what? My research so far is not giving me any confidence beyond sucking it up and going to a windscreen supplier.

    Any ideas?

    DD

Try toothpaste, mate of mine used to get scratches out of TV screens with it.

Oh,that was a while ago when they were glass....

    Good luck.

    Buff it

    Hi there

It's common practice on so called performance and expense cars to get stone chips on plastic light lenses glass etc these can be buffed out with a polishing machine using various cutting compounds
do a search for car detailing locally bet there is a car polisher around your way more likely hiding in a garage.

toothpaste, that has the grit in it,

or a cutting compound that doesn't have any silicon in it, maybe Meguires Scratch-X could do the job

If you have a motorcycle shop/dealer nearby ask them if they sell Plexus. One can of this has lasted me years on m/cycle visors, car trim, m/cycle fairings, scratched plastic on computers, etc.

I honestly don't know how it goes on actual glass however,

There are a few pilots on the forum who may have used it on aircraft canopies. Maybe one of these will add to my comments.

Finally, try your insurance company - if you have glass cover they might cover it in the next few weeks when that big rock puts a bullseye in your line of vision....

Toothpaste and Brasso haven't touched it. Local auto glass wasn't very optimistic.
