Chassis mounts on a D2 have far too much flex for them to be effective rock sliders.
Mount them to the sill, make it strong and you shouldn't have any dramas.
As Clubagreenie says, you can always bend it back.

I am tempted to put some 100mm x 100mm x 5mm angle or something similar to tie all the stirrups together and give that continual sliding/protective quality, although it is all extra weight.

Mine is like a box that wraps around and then insert bolts to make it secure. It's been fine for a year now (touch wood) and don't see any stronger way to attach these sliders.

My sliders (manufactured by the previous owner) mount to the sils with an L shaped piece.

The sils on my vehicle have a ridge on the inside, so I'm not sure how you could enclose these unless you flattened the ridge.

    I'll take pictures tonight.

I made my own as well, mine are now on Yorkies D2.

Here are mine on my old D2

Have a look at this guy, Hendrik makes sliders for the D2 at a good price, give him a PM.
