What you say is certainly true, but if you went to a Land Rover specialist and said you were after a heater hose that lots of people don't know about, and gave even a general description of it, it would be fair to know that they at least had an idea of what you're on about
Indeed they would, and would be able to open microcat, and get you to identify the one you mean in a worst case scenario. If you try to order from ebay or a UK webstore all bets are off.

Yup, been behind the counter with a few people from the local stealers pouring over microcat diagrams.
    You raise an interesting point.

She is back on the road - Thanks lads

    Hi Guys,

Just to let you know that the Disco is back on the road and running very well.

There is no symptoms from the initial post anymore. no black smoke and now lots of power.

MR Automotive did a great job to get the parts from their supplier and express post them to me. (great job by Luke)

Well now I have to tell you what I discovered once I started pulling off the hoses. With a lot of embarrassment I have to advise that the intercooler hose on the left side when looking into the motor had slipped off at the bottom. As it was all dark down there I didn't see that it had slipped off. The missus said that she heard just the smallest of pop before the black smoke. Well her ears are very fine tuned and she hears my light slumber (substitute for cutting trees at night).

Sheepishly I told the missus that it should have cost nothing to repair and that we didn't need to limp home. I had the tools on board and it would have only been a need to just do up the clamp on the hose again.

Anyway guys, the blue silicone hoses look great in the motor. Before putting it all back together I gave the hard pipe at the bottom on the right hand side looking into the motor a really good clean and got all the crap out. It wasn't blocked or anything but just looked like it needed it.

Dave - I had the secret heater hose turn up and I pulled off the aluminum protected shroud over the manifold to get to the hose but whilst it was easy to get to I couldn't fathom out how to actually remove it. As I was running out of time and needed to get to work I had to hold off until another time. The new hose is in the truck. From the observation the hose appears to be ok.

Have ordered the EGR Valve bypass kit and looking forward to that turning up soon so I can get that done.

Thank you again guys for all your help and support and getting me on the right track, even if I should have probably picked up the slipped intercooler hose immediately.

    Best Regards
    Tony

Just like to add also as FYI

MR Automotives provided some additional information on the tax invoice as part of the replacement

"RETENTION CLAMPS AFTER BEING HOT" for silicone hoses

    Cheers
    Tony
