V8 timing cover Crank Seal repair

Just wondering how long it takes to replace the front seal as I have a few drips from mine. Nothing serious but my dad is a retired mechanic coming to visit us soon and I dont want to burden him with a big job.

If it's one or two hours then I dont think he will mind too much..

If its like the earlier ones then it should only take an hour or so.

You need a big socket for the bolt in the pulley with a handle long enough to rest against the chassis while you hit the starter briefly.

Otherwise its take of the radiator shroud, the belt and the fan. Warning if some brain surgeon has loctited the fan VC on it could take days.

There should be enough room between the pulley and radiator for the socket.
The seal sits in the timing cover and runs on the pulley and you can shift it around within reason to avoid any wear grooves.
    Regards Philip A
