    Rear D2 air vent removal

    Hi People,

How do you remove the rear air vent in a D2? This is the plastic grill in front of where the seat belt retractors are in a 7 seater.

I want to get inside to wire up a permanently on 12v socket for the fridge. So I would like to put them back once I'm done. Last time I removed a bit of plastic on the D2 I broke it...

    Cheers

    Hi Ron

It has 3 plastic clips down one side and 3 locating retaining lugs on the other. Use a trim removal tool to push in in the clips and gently prise the edge out. Its a firm fit though. Unless the vent is handed the clips will be at the back on the passenger side and the front on the drivers side.

    Pics attached illustrate passenger side.

    Cheers

    Thanks Steve,

Looks easy once you know how. I was scratching my head thinking something is going to give.

Last minute job prepping for next week's Challenge.

    12V outlet installed

I installed the outlet just above the grill. Plenty of room inside and the wiring clears the seat belt retractor.

I removed the stop light assembly and was able to get the wiring inside though a convenient hole. Now the fridge will still run when the keys are removed.

Note to self: pack the jumper leads just in case you flatten the crank battery... Shouldn't be a problem as the fridge has a selectable low voltage cut out level.

Finding a place to put a second battery in a 7 seater with SLS is a challenge, especially when I'm planning on using the second battery tray to mount the air compressor...

    Cheers
    Ron
