    Disco 2 Intermittent Door Locks

    Hi all

My "newly"owned 2003 Discovery 2 has a variable pattern where the central locking never unlocks the rear passenger side door and sometimes only unlocks the drivers door using he remote. Doors always lock with the remote.

Am i right in assuming it is not A fault or break in thewiring connections but the door actuators need replacing? What about the drivers door that did not work to unlock, then after a storm that set the alarm off the drivers door did unlock remotely for a while then stopped again?

Is it a programming issue, would a diagnostic tool help or should i just replace the actuators?

    Thanks a lot

    Sounds like actuators

    Hi there
Yes sounds like actuators starting to fail can sometimes be kept running with a bit of freeing off and some lube to flush out grit etc but not usually a long term fix.

Best to change out for new units rears can be done in half hour fronts an hour plus

A few photo instructions on line

You will need some door trim clips as you will bust a few check and lube all window regulators you will find lots of rust on fittings etc so grease them to.

Drivers door lock is handed LHD RHD check before ordering

    Hey there Pete

Many thanks, will go the replacement path.

Long time since i visited Aberdeen (1991) but i got as far as Edinburgh in August with my father who is former Glasgow a longtime ago.

    Thanks again for your advice

This is weird, I think mine has the same problem. Today I noticed the R/H rear door failed to unlock with the remote or central looking switch. Just a few hours later the Drivers door failed too.
First I too thought it was the door lock actuator, but as two failed within hours of each other I started thinking it was something else.
I guess it all points to the lock actuators, but Is that common to have two fail like that?

    Failing

    Hi there

I had two RHF LHR fail in two months.
It's a bit like changing light bulbs when one goes the rest are soon to follow they all get the same amount of cycles.

At least you can still use the key for access to drivers side as the pull needs to be up to get the door open.

Bit more of a costly fix than a D1 they need a little spring that only costs a couple of quid.
