Hi all,
There are threads on this, but here is a new one.
I range Bruce. He has 2 chips. One is more of a mid range increase chip with slightly better economy. The second is a performance increase with more power and uses a little more in fuel - 2l per 100k approx. I have a two up from standard Crow cam and port matching with high flow exhaust. He reckons even for towing, for me the second option is the best with more power and it will give me power off the line to make up for more aggressive cam.
Has anyone had the second one done ? Is $600 and you take out your and send it away and he re-does it. He said I MIGHT need a diagnostic programmer to re-set it to the vehicle...he said generally this is not required.
Because the BRC Impco sequential lpg injection gets its base feed off the petrol ECU it should benefit LPG too, but of course the LPG can be tweaked separately.
Cheers

wow, $600,,,
for that amount I'd be sending my ecu to England and get it done right.

To RPI Pedro?

Ps yes its getting expensive. I would probably be better holding on to it and putting it towards a 4.6 block when my bearings eventually give in...whenever that might be...still sounds good and goes hard at 225k.
yep,, I need the 4.6 map installed which I think may make me go OS.

I'm very suspect about the two "plug in" upgrades available in Sydney. I know I've been talking about it for a while and I've run 3 test ECU's now that control both fuel and ignition. The lack of information that the providers will give doesn't give me confidence that it's tuning all the maps possible. Apparently it is theoretically possible to tune fuel only, and there's a few BMW sites that are attempting it. The RPI chip is the only one I can confirm does fuel and ignition. I was once told that you didn't even need to remove the ECU to do the update on some models, so I went along and eventually after 3 hours of trying worked out that I had a V8 not a TD.
At the moment the best option is just to contact Mark Adams and ship your ECU over for updating. It's a hassle but we still haven't worked out all the info required to remote program a ECU and send it over for exchange.
