Are you doing a precautionary head gasket change Disco Muppet?
If so, what are you noticing which is leading you down this path? Just asking because i'm thinking of doing that because I'm worried that the cooling system is being pressurised.

my td5 has exactly the same symptoms, turned out to be the flexy pipe after turbo, cracked thru on the inner folds so cant see it

That's the idea.
There's always been a little bit of pressure in my cooling system, not to the point where if you crack the cap while cold it will hiss and spit, just a little bit of pressure so nothing totally out of the ordinary.
I bought the car with little to no service history, and the cooling system has always been a bit of a weak point on the Td5 so as I've just hit 250k I figured it's better safe than sorry.
To my knowledge it's not overheated, and it runs beautifully, I'd just rather have that little bit of doubt cleared up.
So head gasket, have the head pressure tested and cleaned up, de-EGR, fix the turbo flex pipe, intercooler and radiator flush, full fluid swap etc.
The cooling system is pressurised to below 20.4 psi, the cap pressure relief setting. As far as I am concerned , if you still have pressure at cold, when you remove the cap , all that proves is you have no hose leaks. If the top hose is not rock hard after driving a distance, don't get paranoid. BobQuote:
