    TD5 temp sender issue

Hi everyone. So I have a 2000 Td5 auto which has had a recurring issue with the temp gauge sometimes dropping to the bottom. I have found this to be the temp sender wires that go across the front of the engine earthing out as I'm able to wiggle the wire and make the temp gauge read normal again.

Anyone had this happen before, or know how much it would cost for this new component? If I'm able to get it.

    Thanks, Ben.

The outer insulation deteriorates from heat which allows the actual insulation on the wires to wear through. Seperate the wires to find the spot where the insulation has gone, repair it then fit some new outer insulation.
