Thread: Sway bar disconnects - what grease?

I just fitted some JKS sway bar disconnects.
They come from JKS without grease, but need grease.

As a mechanic I make a great chef... so I have no idea whether I can just use the high temp bearing grease I have at home, or if I need to go buy something else?

The greasable bit is the disconnectable bar that connects sway bar to axle, as it swivels around when the axle angle changes.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Edit: just went to Auto One and bought some more suitable grease
This was probably the hardest thing to figure out in the whole process of fitting disconnects! Highly recommended easy mod for anyone wanting to get a bit more flex.

I think I bought these ones: Expedition Exchange Incorporated :: Suspension :: SlickRock Fabrication Disco2 Front Swaybar Disconnects (D2DISCONNECT)
Says slickrock D2 disconnects, but pretty sure JKS ones turned up. They work the same and are the adjustable length so all good.

They are pretty easy to fit, especially if you follow this guide: quick disconnect - discovery series II
I briefly considered grinding my swaybar ends without removing the swaybar from the car... but the sway bar is easy to remove and it made it a lot easier so it's not a worthy shortcut! Getting the swaybar back on is a bit fiddly, I was glad I've been working the benchpress lately... the bar got heavy after 10 mins or trying to fiddle the retainers back in to their slots! Got there in the end tho.

All in all, for $200 and a few hours work to have stronger and disconnectable sway bar links to make full use of my long travel shocks, it is a very worthwhile mod!
