Btw, if anyone is interested Go Tech make a cable that fits in where the cd changer plugs in the back and allows you to use a 3.5mm jack. It cost $71 with postage, and one with a selector to use the cd changer rather than eliminate it is $120 odd.

If you need one, contact Go Technologies at 03 9237 0800 / Go Technologies

Also for those that want to keep original unit you can buy FM transmitters that can plug into iPhones, iPods etc. but also can get some that use a 3.5mm jack so you can use any MP3 player etc. they are on eBay and the like. Can also buy from jb hifi and those kind of stores. A good one will probably set you back $60 or so but can be bought for as little as $5-10.

Get one that DOESN'T have pre-selected frequencies as some come with 5 or so frequencies you can select but then can't select any others if all preset have interference.

I use a FM transmitter in my 04 D2a S model. It works but suxs. Stupid thing goes to sleep if it dosent get a signal for 10secs or something like that.
If you do go down the FM transmitter route. Buy from Ebay, they work just as well as a the name brands for a fraction of the cost. My current ones are designed for 30pin Apple devices (iphone 3 &4 etc). Does all freq from 87-108. But am using it with a 30pin to lightning plug on my iphone 5 and it still charges.

Hijack - Has anyone found a plug for a 04 in dash CD player? As I am over the stupid fm transmitter.

    Aux Audio Adapter?

I was looking into the same thing. In the end I replaced the stereo and came up with an ashtray iPod Dock of my own:

My Disco had the same small holes as you describe. I cut two lengths from a wire coat hanger and bent them to create a three sided right angle shape. These were then pushed into the slots. I was then able to wiggle the radio out. As others have mentioned, it is held in quite tightly by a rubber stopper in the centre at the rear. I ended up replacing my radio with an Alpine with Ipod controls. I had to do a bit of rewiring, which was fiddly but not difficult.

I've also just installed one of the Grom bluetooth adapters - the BT3. It was easy enough to install - just replaced the blue connector on the rear of the stereo head unit and it worked.

Having said that it is very intermittent with the connection. It works sometimes and not others.. would have to say its been a bit frustrating to say the least. I've tried a number of options when connecting - ie. bluetooth off on the phone before getting in, poering up the stereo separately, waiting for the stereo to start but still unable to get it to connect consistently.

I'm running an Iphone 4 - when it connects it works great. I haven't tried the latest firmware as I only just got the unit and figured it would have come with the most recent version.

Would be interested to know if anyone has had a similar issue and or resolution..

When a new Pioneer DEHX4650BT with CD ( with all compression formats) Iphone controller ,bluetooth ,Short Wave! , AM and FM is only about $185 IMHO it is hardly worth stuffing around, especially since the Pioneer is Plug and play with the Pioneer to ISO harness at $20.

.Pioneer DEH X4650BT Bluetooth CAR Stereo Audio CD MP3 Ipod Iphone Android Player | eBay
AND the bonus is that both AM and FM performance is far superior to my old Eurovox, and the RF rejection is far better so I don't get deafened when on AM when I stop at LED traffic lights or under CFL s>LOL.

And once you learn to link the phones it will register 3 bluetooth phones and automatically pair as you get in the car.

Yeah that's probably the right answer and was considering going down that route but my preference for the OEM look won out in this case..

Got some time this arvo so will have another play with it and update if I get anywhere.

I contact Grom support and have to say they have been very good in getting back to me.
