Damn those quick hose couplings on the Radiator, mine stuck

I'm in the process of fitting a new aircon condenser and radiator. Rave says "push on coupling release rings"
I've pushed and pulled and swore at them but can't get the damn things off.
I can push the hose in towards the radiator, I have pushed on the coupling rings and nothing, I have tried to push on the rings towards the hose and nothing.
Whats the trick to these fittings??

push the hose towards the cooler (front of vehicle). While pushing it forward pull the collar back, hold the collar back and pull the hose back. May need a wiggle and twist, of course you have plenty of space. While apart, replace with screw on fittings.

Thanks, will try that again, yes heaps of room to work with NOT.
I was pushing hose forward it moves a few millimeters didn't try twisting it though. Realised its not a quick simple job to replace them due to hard to get to bolts.

Pirtek will have steel JIC pushlok hose ends and steel JIC weld ons. Cut he hose off and weld on the steel male ends. Make new hose with female ends and VPW or Motorsport connections will have alloy JIC ends to weld onto the coolers. Do the auto and engine at the same time.

    hi mario,

the stupid push click fittings fill with dirt and restrict the movement of the collar. try soaking/ spraying with contact cleaner and some compressed air to blow out the rubbish. i have got them to release before using this method.

    C,A,Greenie,
But they aren't leaking, I'm just replacing the Radiator that the OAT ate through and the Aircon condenser as I holed it. No leaks from hoses or fittings.

But they do tend to blow off especially when removed and not refitted fully, trusty me it took me three tries and 20+litres of auto oil once and I was convinced they were correctly fitted. Also they randomly blow off at the crimp end where it joins the tube. It's just insurance and easy to do while it's all apart. Shouldn't cost more than $200- for all parts and welding.

Well today spotted a large oil leak on the passenger side front. Engine oil!
The fitting didn't blow off but was leaking oil. I lost a 1 litre over 100kms.
The coupling has a bit of slide on the pipe. I called into Bunnings and raid the plumbing dept for an O ring assortment. I fitted an O ring to the pipe then slide the coupling on and it was a tighter fit. and got back home.
