    Rear ABS Sensor replaceable?

Can any body tell me if the ABS sensors in the rear hub are removable?

The reason for me asking is because I replaced the O-ring in the right rear hub today and in the process removed the sensor. Everything is back together now but the ABS light stays on. After reading up a bit I found a reference in the workshop manual that actually says to not remove as it comes supplied with the hub. Surely this sensor must be replaceable.

they certainly are replaceable. sounds like it possibly isn't seated in the hub well or the plug isn't making good contact? did you ensure the o ring for the sensor was fitted onto the sensor before refitting it to the hub, and the allen key is tight?

there is a small chance that the very act of removing and refitting it has done it some harm but highly unlikely. the resistance across the sensor should be about 1000 Ohms, and if you have an analogue multimeter you should see a A/C signal when rotating the wheel.

Justin, thanks for that. I did fit the o-ring to the sensor prior to fitting. The allen key bolt is tight. I will check the resistance.

I wonder if the reason for the fault is perhaps that it requires a reset?

ah, was it possible you had the key switched on while the sensor was unplugged? have you driven it yet? the abs lamp will go out after about 150 metres at over 7 km/hr as it does a self check.

hmmm, almost sounds like a shuttle valve fault, have you checked your brake lamps are working? the brake switch failing can cause the abs lamp/s to illuminate also. have you got all 3 lamps (HDC, TC and ABS ) on?

Yeah, Justin. The "3 Amigos" have now made their appearance. Brake lamps are working. Shucks. Have not had that before.
