Turbo gasket leak?

Did you fit the EGT sensor and turbo yourself or have it done?

Maybe it is residue of badly advised sealant that has burnt off, like the gasket goo I found on the gasket of my FPR.

Fitted the egt myself. Turbo, no idea. Might grab a gasket and change it anyway.

It should be plausible ;) I was getting residue on top of the turbo heat shield when the washer jet on the passenger side failed.
